About Pomsky

 

 Physical Characteristics

 When you cross a Pomeranian with a Siberian Husky, you can imagine some of the variations that might occur. In general, small Pomsky’s tend to weigh around 15 pounds when fully grown, although they could be 10 to 15 pounds larger or smaller depending on their parents.

 Colors

  Pomskies can be found in varied colors such as black, red, gray, brown and cream. They also have different kinds of markings and can be sable, parti or solid colored.

 Coat

   Pomskies have a double-layered coat with medium length hair with a downy undercoat. The coat of the Pomsky is well-suited for frosty and chilly weather. Although it does need a good brushing regularly.

  Eyes

    Many Pomskies inherit their eye color from their Husky mother, which are light colored eyes that contrasts with the color of their coats, especially when they are darker. The color of the Pomsky’s eyes vary and can be husky blue, brown, green, amber or hazel and it is quite common for a Pomsky to have two different colored eyes, like its Husky parent.

  Ears

   Pomskies have erect and pointy ears also inherited from its Husky parent.

 Temperment

  More often than not, Pomskies inherit the desirable traits from both Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians.They are often highly intelligent, loving, playful and self-assured. The Pomsky tends to be good natured and gentle with kids.

 Exercise Requirements

  Pomskies are highly energetic dogs and require a fair deal of exercise to prevent them from getting bored. They love to play and frolic and have seemingly infinite amounts of energy. When not provided with an outlet for its energy, Pomskies can turn destructive. As like with their Pomeranian and Husky parents, whom both like to dig.

 Common Health Problems

  Pomskies can suffer from a dental condition cause by the build up of plaque, which they inherit from their Pomeranian father, and should be taken for regular dental checkups.

 Life Expectancy

  Pomskies have a fairly high life expectancy of 13-15 years.
